Ok, heres my situation. Currently i am waiting for my ballast and bulb to arrive. So far this is what I have (remember i am completely new to this kinda thing) A box which is ready to go together once i get the light, I have a ps-one lcd which is ready to go in the box, I have a page magnifier from Office Depot, and i have a tiplet lens which i took off a unused Overhead projector, some fans i took off a old computer.
my questions are:
1. once i get the ballast and bulb, will i be ready to go? or do i need new/more parts?
2. Will the page mag work for the fresnel? I only have one, do i need another ( do i put it b4 or after the lcd)
3. any ideas for reflectos which i can pick up from local stores (dont have a walmart near)
4. I realized the the projection image wont be very big so i decided to look for a 15" lcd. Heres what i have in mind, sometimes dell has a very basic computer with 15" lcd for 400, i could sell the desktop for like 400, and keep the lcd. so the quuestion is will the dell 15' lcd work, or shouuld i sell that too and buy a cheap lcd?
5. Will i be able to use all the other parts from my psone projector? like a 250w ballast and light, lens
6. I will have my projector about 8-9 ft from the wall, so how big will the screen be with the 15' and how big with the 5' ps one.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

These are broad general design questions, subject to much opinion. It would take several pages for us to answer you properly
You'll need to go back to the drawing board and do it the hard way like the rest of us; research research and more research
Might i suggest becoming a paid LL member to find all the juicy organized info inside?

I must agree completely with sjetski71's comment.
Those are some big questions that would indeed be subject to some serious opinion, no doubt leading to several debates, let alone several pages of replies!!
If your starting from scratch, I also must agree with sjetski71. The guide will get your first projector built for sure, with minimal fuss and no need for knowledge outside your wishes/needs. No doubt its also a fantastic starting point for someone who wants to get right into the physics of things.
As for the usage of the Dell LCD - Im not familiar with this exact panel and so cannot comment on its disassembly to a bare panel, nor its specification, pro's/con's.

1. it matters what type of ballast you ordered. if it is a core and coil then you might need a capacitor unless it comes with one.
2. you need 2 page magnifiers, and i would suggest putting one before and one after.
3. people here seem to use norpro or something like that. i dont really know about this part
4. delta is right most lcds are different so you wont really know, and how do you figure that your image wont be big???
5. yes. , you should invest in a ir filter and a uv filter
6. you need to know the focal length and throw distances to figure this out

I am looking at buying a Dell E153FP and don't really know what to look for. From the specs, it seems to be a good choice. Does anyone know about the difficulity of taking out the LCD panel? What about FFC issues? If this is not a good panel, what would you suggest and what forum is a good one to look at for these answers?
I know, too many questions.... Sorry.
