Has anyone attempted to mount the fan to exhaust outside or in another room?

I am thinking of noise and more CFM. If there was a duct that ran from the back of the projector and to the outside wall or another room then the noise would be minimized and a lot bigger fan could be used.

Is this dumb or has it been attempted in the past?

there's a fellow in the plogs or results thread who did it. He ran some dryer vent tubing through his drop ceiling and exhausted into his garage. Think he did it to keep his room/ceiling temps down but it seemed to do the trick from what i remember.
