I have a question on the LL electronic ballast.
Does the electronic ballast hold a charge ?
Reason I ask is if I need to adjust something and I unplug the main power supply to adjust something, is there a charge in the ballast that i could get zapped with. If there is a held charge, how do I discharge it?
Thanks
John

I've had a constant problem with an electronic ballast. The bulb flashes but won't stay lit. Last night It wouldn't light and after more than an hour, I heated the ballast up with a hair dryer and it fired up first time. I tried it again today with the same results.

I almost bought the ultimate light kit, now from reading above I understand it won't fit. So I should order the eledtronic ballast and the 1012 bulb from the store for a 15" simple projector? This should be made clear in the storefront. On a side note, I luckily found a Norpro at Marshall's for $4.99!

Jerseyjohn; Although I can't say definitively, but since I have been informed that coil ballasts have a resistor that will discharge the cap upon shutdown, I would expect an electronic ballast would also incorporate a similar safety feature.
Haas_man; What made you think that the hair dryer would help? It appears that you may be on to something, but I don't how we are going to utilize that information. However it is interesting and may prove valuable.
tinkerer; you can use either T15 type bulb in the simple projector, however the fit is tight so you will want to make sure your box has enough width.
I'm trying to keep the ballast facts page as just a facts, FAQ's and links page. Feel free to post information but post questions on this thread or another ballast thread.
Thanks
Haas_man; I just realized that your post was not really a question and, although obscure, was appropriate for the thread. I shouldn't have moved it, sorry.

DR64,
I was wondering if heat would affect the function of a faulty ballast. Was thinking of boiling it.....
Brain, any chance of swapping this ballast out?

I was thinking along the lines of; the stress from repeated expansion/contraction may have loosened a solder point.
