I have been thinking since I have so little heat problems about stepping up the bulb. My box is more than big enough to handle it. Does anyone know of a pulse strike lamp that is slightly larger in wattage than the 400w one we sell in the store? Heck if I put another fan in the box I am sure I could run a 1000w bulb.

Phillips make a 575, 700, 1000, 1200, 2500, 4000, 6000 and 12000. And a lot of others, in varying wattages. I'm sure there is one for you somewhere.
12000 watt, 1,200,000 lumens, imagine the heat there.

i suppose we want to keep a high color rating, around 4 or 5k
i found this pulse start bulb, it is only 50watts more and it gives out 50,000 lumens, or a mean lumens of 40,000 this is 30 percent more average light output than the bulb we currently use and it is only 50 watts increase, or a little over 10 percent, should not be much more heat.

they also offer other bulbs with UV protection. The only difference I see is the mounting is plus/minus 15 base up which i understand to be the mogul of the bulb would have to be on the bottom of the projector.
33 dollar bulb, same stats, a coil type ballast for 66 bucks, this could be a 110 buck package with a mogul. This isnt even considering the chance we get a group buy.

Being an ED37, that lamp is huge.

how big is huge? I have 15 inches of space on the inside of my projector enclosure, if the light source was within 7 inches of the base I might be able to fit it straight up and down and keep the light on the center axis

You want MH for sure, not HPS. Search for ED28. 28 refers to the lamp size. Its a smaller lamp physical size.

Right. HPS have a WAY wrong color temp. Usually around 2100K. You want at least 4000K.

http://www.goodmart.com/products/243632.htm 40k mean lumens.. That's fantastic. If you could mount that one (base up?... yuk), it would make a good light source.
Is your picture that dark to warrant needing to do this BTW? Have you tweaked it out already?
