Full Version: Which bulb should I use
Lumenlab > LLAVS: Lumenlab AVS > Projector Builder > DIY Video Projector Design

The three bulbs offered in the LL Store have two shape options and confusing/ different specs.

Can someone give pro's and cons or perhaps scenarios for their optimal use?
--For example: Why is the T15 "ideal" for 17" builders? is it raw initial lumen output?
What are the advantages of using the S400?? Is the CRI difference of 70 vs 85 worth the lower lumen output? Should we just be buying one of each bulb and seeing which gives a better final result in our own finished PJ?

Sorry if this question has been asked and answered before, but I was not able to locate it.

hmmm, no takers eh? well, I ordered the s400 and the t15 and will relay results on the finished 15" initial PJ which will be taking shape shortly. My light meter as well as some test images from "Video Essentials" DVD should give some scientific comparison answers... Stay tuned unless of course someone has additional insight.

I must have missed this question. The s400DD will have a nicer color and the pulse strike T15 will have more lumens. Did you buy the electronic ballast? It will run both bulbs, but if you plan to use coil ballasts, you will need two different ones.

It will be nice to see your side by side comparisons, I will look foreward to it. smile.gif

Thanks DeathRay. Yes, I bought the e-ballast for that very reason. tests are forthcoming... give me a few weeks. biggrin.gif
