I've been poking around a bit since I purchased the plans, and I have enjoyed looking at everyone's designs. But hears an interesting thought, one that might have been brought up already so forgive me if I may be repeating. In all of the designs that are vertical units everyone seems to mount their light source beneath the lcd/fresnel assembly, now here's this; heat rises correct? so if you mount your light beneath then you cause all of the heat to pool under your assembly. Now light reflects down just as well as up so what if you were to mount your light above the assembly, set up the optics to work in conjunction with the flip design, then you would have a potential thermo-siphon effect, the heat rises causing fresh air to be drawn in from below. Now this wouldn't replace the mechanical cooling but I think it would help take the load off the fan because the heat is naturally wanting to move away from the lcd. just my 2 cents wink.gif

Right, but then you'd have to compensate with heavy keystoning if you plan to use the projector on the floor instead of the ceiling (which is the point of a vertical design). I suspect the keystoning issues might surpass the heat issues.

True, but then aren't they keystoning with the mirror that is used to at the light exit? and I wasn't intending that the projection opening was placed on the floor, rather a column (decorative of course) think of a pedestal with your inverted unit setting upon it, your projection point would still be at the height that it would normally have been had the light been mounted beneath the lcd.

the mirror can only change the direction of the reflection, not the shape.
