Well I made an order from newegg late one night and mistakenly ordered the CMV522A(not compatible) when I thought I was ordering a 529A. DO you guys know if they will charge a restock fee if I go with an upgraded monitor. I was thinking about biting the bullet and go with a 17" screen like the Samsung 712N. It is on the compatible list as 712N but on newegg they have a 712N-2. Are these the same monitor and if so how easy to strip. If they are going to charge a restock then I have located a CMV 529A from a different source and will probably go with it. Man I feel stupid about ordering the wrong monitor. GOing at this rate my $5-6 hundred will wind up in the thousands. OH well Merry Christmas.

DOes anyone want a CMV522A for general use? It may be up for sell. If they are going charge me with a restock fee, I might as well sell it to someone in this forum undercost. After everything I paid $202 and I will sell for under this and pay shipping. PM me if interested. I haven't even opened the box.

the cmv 522a is compatible (its on both lists) but you just need to proceed a bit more carefully than some other lcd's. I'd label it "minor ffc issue" since its fairly workable. Here's embrie's post which shows how to strip the cmv 522a: http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2333&hl= (be sure to read all pages)

I'm using the cmv 522a myself and just plan on proceeding carefully.

Remember to use the samsung 712n 17" lcd you'll need the pro lense kit which costs $250 wink.gif

BTW, www.icuepc.com has the cmv529 if you're interested.

note to mods: please feel free to delete this post to reduce clutter, although i feel Embrie's thread is a good resource for those looking to strip the cmv 522a.

Thanks again for the prompt response and the link. You made my Christmas. I thought I was going to have to return it due to incompatibility. I appreciate your help on the matter. I may hold off on the 17" for now but I was kicking around some thoughts on a vertical design. Its throw distance with the pro lens, 600:1 contrast, higher resolution and 12ms refresh rate are very impressive stats. I hope the difference between the 15 and 17,when I see some pics, doesn't leave me depressed.
