The "compatible monitor list" mentions several monitors that seem to no longer be available or have had their model numbers changed as a new version is released.

Does anyone know if the benq557s v2 is just as compatible as the original? (It now has a contrast ratio of 450:1)

Is the cmv 1515 still out there (possibly under a different name)?

Has anyone else used the cmv 522a? There seems to be confusion although its on the bad monitor list. (I think one member used it successfully)

Thanks

The 557s/567s models are the same panels the 567 has speakers. The v1 and v2 panels are slightly different. I stripped my 567s v2 with no probs at all, very easy, just takes the right tools and about an hour patients.

I have some pics if u like to se'um (need to get home first)

Thanks. Yeah I actually just ordered the 557s v2 last night.
I would love to see the pics since now I will be stripping this model.

Some tips on striping the v2 BenQ 557/567

First Read THIS as these tips are in addition to that walkthrough.

My v2 BenQ 567 is a little different then the one sydneybird stripped (why I am posting this)

Ok First "The Right Tools" cool.gif A good investment, I am PC tech so comes w/the job tongue.gif

The first thing that is different then the v1 is there is no metal covers, instead it just aluminium tape that covers the holes. Second there is no flat white ribbon cables on the controls pcb, instead - rounded cables. (Bottom Right)

Once you get the back off (using the guide here in the forums) I found it easier to just use several old credit cards to put in between the little tabs and the metal casing, once you get them all pryed away you can just lift from a bottom corner abd then back to pull it out from the tabs on the top.

Remove the aluminum foil covers and disconnect the backlight and FFC cabling.
Once you get the back casing off you get this, the backlight cables are on the ones on the left, FCC cables up top. Now you want to remove the metal FCC cover.

The FFC cables are stuck to the metal frame, just pry back the black part and pull cable off the sticky pad, but be carefull with that socket.
I also put Scotch tape on the FFCs were they contact the PCB to hopefully prevent any rips on the side.

The two screws that hold the back side of the metal frame (this is the backlight side) are located in each corner were the backlight cables are on. The panel sydneybird sripped these were on the side of the frame. You have to pull out the backlight cables that are snaked though a holder to get acces to the screws. Once you get both screws off, instead of standing the frame up like sydneybird, I found it alot easier to just keep it lying flat, going around to the little pocket holes (under the orange tape on the backlight cables) and prying out and down. There is a little nub that keeps the two parts of the frame together. The backlight half can be removed after that, just stick a tiny screwdriver in where the nubs are, and pry up and get your finger underneath. I found this way puts no stress on the FFCs. Standing it up to me looked like a big no-no hard to balance and pry!

She is all stripped! Oh yea baby sexy biggrin.gif Don't let the FFC boad rest on the LCD, I put a plastic sheet from the backlight over the panel to protect the whole backside of the LCD.

Hey, where did you buy your BenQ? I've been watching a couple of sites. Who did you use?
NerdAtHeart
Purchased monitor from tigerdirect.com for $240 + $16 shipping. Its on its way (tracking on UPS) should get it any day. I'll post how the transaction goes over in my plog.

does anyone know the final dimensions of the stripped lcd?
mhelin
That one seems to have LVDS interface while the other 557s stripped in thread which was linked to this thread had a tft with TTL interface (two FFC's instead of single one like in this thread). The LVDS panels are more recent models and maybe a little bit better one too.

is it just me or does the 567s look like a 16:9 screen when it is stripped?
