Hello , I have a 240v ballast here. althought i do not know which lamp to buy, because all of the lamps i hav seen are 120v , but is the ballast is 240v surely this will not work??

Have a look at Eyebaths posts he's basically done all the groundwork for us in the UK. Read everything. And do some basic research on electricity. 240 @ 50hz is domestic supply in the UK, 120 @ 60hz is domestic supply in the US. buy your lamp in the UK to be sure it will work here as I saw some comments about us lamps may produce flickering as are designed for higher frequency. You need to know about electricity before you go near this project or you may get a shock.
