Hey all, I've been a member for a while, but haven't really done too much with projection, just drooled over all the great info and pics everyone has.

So I decided I should finally tackle a few projects - first of course, the classic OHP...

So I have this really old OHP, and an old 15" gateway monitor i'm gonna strip down for testing - but i want to replace the very yellowish bulb in the projector, and wanted a bit of feedback on my choices. I was thinking THIS for the ballast, or maybe this. NOT that bulb thats with it (the ebay page), but was going to use THIS , for the bulb itself - That type of bulb was in this list here from these forums.

the projector already has a stock old lens, i'm not sure how to tell what kind it is (triplet or whatever), so any help on that could be nice - the model of this beast, has the model "3m model#66ar projector" on the side, i think its older than I am smile.gif I dont even remember how I got it lol. It has a tag on the back, says 3M projector company, but its worn.

Anyways, I'm not really crazy about quality that much, I just want something to test for now, but want a good bulb/ballast I can use to build a better OHP in the near future - with (maybe) an HD 15.4" lcd. If you think I should go for a 250w bulb/ballast, then thats fine!

BTW, I probably will not be watching blu-ray or even that much HD at all...dvd quality is fine with me, so I Could go for just using a potable DVD player with RCA input, strip the poo outa that, and go from there.

What should I grab eh? Thanks all!

A 150 watt and a 250 watt setup is going to be VERY dim.

You will probably get around 40 Lumens on screen for the 150watt setup.

I probably should have also mentioned that i'm not going for a huge throw on the wall - maybe 80" or so? max? and it will be in a room with almost no light leakage(yay for basements). will the 150W/250W bulbs be at least an improvement in brightness and color reproduction than the (maybe 20yr old) projector bulb I have now?

The 250 watt one should be a decent improvement.
