A couple days ago I was searching online for projector prices and of course they are all still way out of my range. (HD ones that is) I then ran across an old Engadget article and everything blasted off from there. Ive been reading up on multple guides and of course soaking in info from this forum for the past day.

Im still a bit sketchy however on details and where to go for a step by step guide. I found the wiki guide but it says its under construction and all the others ive found are well dated and the product links are way too old to be of any help.

So my question, where should a begginer go for a detailed guide and/or up to date product list/requirements



Also, just out of curiosity, what would a 15 in. DIY projector go for in terms of pricing these days?

Welcome. Finding what you seek will be a lesson in forum surfing and creative use of the search function. There are a number of good threads but all require some chair time and reading, reading, reading. As for the wiki - I'm not even sure what the status is right now as I've not been there for prolly over a year maybe more!

Price for a basic projector could be as little as . . . oh . . . $100 to $200 depending on how much legwork you can do finding tremendous bargains. Usually the cost inflates during construction though.

There is still good forum support here but things have kind of migrated to building bots. Have you checked out the for sale section of the forum? Perhaps someone there is offering stuff just right to get you started?

Well if I can get parts for that cheap id be on clouds.. lol Im just not much on constructing things, thats why I was a bit scared of taking on this project without a step by step guide. Shame the idea has died down, because it still seems like a huge bargain to me..

Definitely a labor of love. I personally know some peeps who've started and never finished DIY PJ's so . . .
