I've read several threads that appear to say different things. Does it matter which lcd a PW106 controller is programmed for, or will any WUXGA lcd work. For example, if I have a PW106 controller programmed for a Sharp panel, can I use an LG Philips? The reason I ask is because I just managed to break my sharp panel, and am needing to replace it. Also, if anyone has a panel that will in my situation and they are willing to part with it (will pay slightly more if AG is already removed), please contact me with a price. Thank you.

Yes it will work with all 15.4" Wuxga panels.

Alright thank you for confirming that for me. Are any lcd's better than others, and if so which specs should I look at? The way I understand it, contrast ratio is unimportant after the backlight is removed and refresh rates aren't accurate comparisons. Any input is appreciated.

The Sharp is generally thought to be the best. The Toshiba might cause problems if you're doing a folded with a mirror.

And the LG hasn't hardly been used from what I've seen.

But IMO they are all about the same.

Alright thanks jonjandran for your help. I think I'll probably go for the Sharp panel then unless I see a different one for significantly cheaper as that is what I had before I managed to kill it attempting ag removal. I've actually been using your WUXGA build as a template for my own build (only I'll be using the PW106 instead of the genesis). Anything you would have done differently with this build if you were to do it again?

Edit: Besides the 575w lamp as I'm already doing that.

Make everything 100% adjustable in all directions. LOL

Lol.. b-b-but I can't just throw it in a box and hope it works? jk I read on your plog that you stripped the lcd of the reflective and anti-glare layer, but I didn't see how you did it. Which method did you use to strip these layers? (Better yet, want to strip mine for me? jk)
jonjandran
I would NEVER strip a 15.4" Wuxga screen again. It's the hardest thing I've ever done and I lost a few trying.

My advice. DON'T DO IT..... ohnoes.gif

You wouldn't strip the reflective either? I lost my first one attempting to strip it and it was a terrible feeling. Did you see any results from it? (I didn't see any before and after pics in your plog).

Yes there is a big difference IMO without the reflective layer. About a 10% increase in light transmission, and better colors. And I probably would strip the reflective layer but not the AG.

Is there any noticeable difference between the Sharp LQ154M1LW12 and the Sharp LQ154M1LW02 because I can not find specs on the former. Also, does anyone around here do an ag/reflective stripping service as I'm too afraid to do it myself now. Thanks.

No and I don't know of any.

Alright thanks for answering me again. I didn't think there was a difference, although according to one source the LQ154M1LW12 had a 300:1 contrast ratio and the other had a 400:1 (although I think this is negligible once the back light is stripped). If anyone is running a ag/reflective stripping service (I swear I read about one somewhere but I can't seem to find it) please pm me. Thanks.

I don't know if im allowed to say this, but agillentpixel will do full strip and polar replacement for $25 if you buy the panel from them.

Nevermind, going with the Sharp panel after all. Thanks for the help.
