5500K is a good color. Over 6000k and it's starting to get too blue and under 4500 it's starts to get to yellow. Most of the bulbs used in DIY projectors are between those two temps.

I've used a 4000K lamp, a 5200K lamp, and a 6500K lamp. I liked the 4000K and 6500K lamps best. Both I found were excellent, and sitting in front, I'd have placed both as equivalent, thouh the comparison photos in my PLOG show that they are in fact different, the subjective experience is the same.
