Hi I want to build a projector around the sgi widescreen monitor. My question however is with the all vertical projector cabinet.

Brain in your pic you show Height as 27.52.
Then you show 11" is that width or depth?

Is it 11" by 11" or not?

Does that measurement depend on the 17" panel being used?

thanks!

Any info would be appreciated

edit:
Are these dimensions sufficient?
35"H x 19"W x 16"D

Download the .exe file and you can measure anything you want. The model is dimensioned around the Samsung 710N.

Hi Skilzgw,
I'm using the same panel. Here's what I'm working with (interior dimensions)

17 7/8" wide, 14" deep, 28 3/4" high

You may want to make yours a bit taller to avoid having to build a long focus box. My height was constrained by the fact that the each side and the top/bottom pieces were cut from a pair of 18"x48" planks.

Note that the one set of dimensions that you can't change are those of the LCD panel. If you refer to my thread on stripping the SGI 1600SW, you'll see that the frame is not the same dimensions all the way around. I chose to mount mine on a piece of plexiglass that makes is centered with the fresnels, etc. The frame's dimensions are:

11 1/4" high by 16 7/16" wide. In order to center the panel, the narrow sides of the frame need to be built out resulting in overall dimensions of 11 25/32" high by 16 3/4" wide. Keep in mind that these dimensions make no allowance for mounting clearance. A quick review of the enclosure dimensions will show that the enclosure is an inch or two deeper than necessary. This was deliberate, as I didn't want to cut the fresnels down to more than 13.5-14" height. As things stand, it should not be necessary to cut the fresnels to a narrower width than the current 17".

Hope this helps.
