hey, it;s been a while, but my projector is going soon, it's an Evo, and there isnt any more bulbs for it. so im looking for a new projector to buy, and last time i looked, the best replacment was the Favi rio HD, but i was wondering, isn' there any others by now? I remembered there was one i found that was based in the uk, but i tried looking for it through my old posts, and it's not there, and the i was reading through some of the other stuff in this forum, and someone mentioned a company in canada making a projector with a replacment bulb costing $60. anyone know of it? unsure.gif

just an update, i am looking at this projector off of ebay:

http://stores.shop.ebay.com/maylenswang__W...QQ_scZ1QQ_sopZ1

it's the only projector they have, but i was wondering what your guys think, you think it could be false?

2,000 lumins, native 1024/768?

the only problem i see is the contrast ratio 600:1......if that matters.....

Looks pretty decent. It will by no means actually put out 2000 lumens though. Not that that is even desireable in a dark room. The 600:1 is not up to commercial projector spec, but is comparable to eVo, DIY and im pretty sure the Favi PJs.

Overall looks pretty good to me, has lots of inputs too.

I unserstand that LL is in negotioations to work with a LED based projector which would take the eVo's place.

What version eVo do you have?

I have the Evo 1.2 i think.... and really? when would that be done? and do you know of any projector that would beat the projector stated above? i really am hopeing that there is a projector that has native 1080p, i wouldnt even mind if it costed lots, I just want to pay it once, you know? and maybe under $100 for the replacment bulb....
SupraGuy
Hey, all I get is the teaser news, I don't have anything solid. 1080p isn't likely though, since that's getting into spendy territory.

I've got a pair of 1.2s myself, and a 1.0 (Which is nonfunctional, though it does have a working ballast and lamp.) One of my 1.2s has a couple of stuck pixels, so I was thinking that I might rob the LCD from the 1.0 and see if it's better.

Yeah, but it should be done, like i said, i wouldnt mind buying an expensive projector, as long as it was cheap to replace the bulb, i mean, if this forum could show me how to take an expensive projector, and put a bulb in it that was 40.00 to replace. it would be worth buying.

Hey,

I was wondering how good/bad the picture quality is. I am in canada too btw. The contrast ratio indeed matters : A bigger one will produce (IMO) a better picture and better colors. (seem brighter, more vivid)

The lamp ressembles what was used in the evo, am I right? 6000 h seem like a very long time. Long enough for me anyway. I'd be curious to see if anyone brought one...

Jaddo
hey supra guy, you have a bunch of Evo's right? what would you range that Db level at? because the projector on ebay is around 32db

thanks.
Jaddo
sorry but i must bump this for an answer.... any idea what the sound level would be rated at in an evo 1.2?

thx
SupraGuy
Sorry, I should have answered this earlier.

I don't know what it'd be in dBA, but the eVo isn't quiet. More than 32dB for sure, I'd figure that it'd be in the mid-40s.

The 1.2 is much less noisy than the 1.0 is.

my eVo 1.1 just died last week (I got the two-orange lights = bad ballast).

I'm gonna suck it up and buy a 52" lcd tv. I'm done w/ projectors (at least for the time being)
Jaddo
Thanks Supera guy, i needed that to see what i should look for a good quieter Projector, it's funny though, the projector i stated at the beginning of this post looks like it has a counterpart on ebay, but it seems they say that the contrast ratio is 800:1 and they want almost 800 for it, i hate when they do that, it looks like the same model, I'll have to see if that's the true quality of that item... dry.gif
