Anyone catch it?

I thought it was OK. Not great, but I'll keep watching.

Unfortunately it seemed a little too much like they're trying to be a new Battlestar Galactica replacement rather then a new Stargate spinoff:

- I almost choked on my soda when the girl says "We just dropped out of FTL". They've never used the term "FTL" in Stargate before, it was always referred to as "Hyperspace". "FTL" was coined in BSG.

- And WTF was up with the sex-scene at the beginning?! I mean, there was no nudity, but damn, they didn't leave much to the imagination. glad my 10 and 12 year olds, who were big fans of SG1 and Atlantis, had gone to bed already. SG1 and Atlantis were always fairly "family oriented" shows but I guess we won't be watching this as a family if this is indicative of the direction they're going to take...

Interesting I will have to Hulu this one, I did not know that they were doing another spin off... I really enjoyed SG1 but when Richard Dean Anderson left I lost interest.

I tend to enjoy my Scifi or action entertainment sans the act of coupling. Main reason I stopped watching BSG was because of the filler they used with getin' it on, it just tells me that the plot does not have enough going on to entertain the masses.

I'll keep watching. Anderson got porky! Tapping is still a sweetie. Not enough humor though. I loved the character chemistry in SG-1. They should drop this sex nonsense. Simply not necessary. And I ain't prudish.

Well sometimes you just have to take matters into your own hands. tongue.gif

I didn't catch it, though after seeing a promo spot, or I guess it could be a trailer either way it didn't seem like I'd be into it. SG1 was cool, direct spin off form the movie, but the others where just.... Iffy.

Im a big SG fan, I have all the seasons of SG1, Atlantis and All the movies.

I actually really enjoyed SGU, Very refreshing and looks like it will be a hit.

I didnt like the jumping around in the first hour, but after reading some SG forums it seems like the show will be alot like the second hour which was great.

The sex scene was probably there to set up some future interactions between Scott and that Girl he was doin, He tried to act like he didnt know her later in the episode.

As for the FTL reference.. near the beginning they said that the ship was "traveling faster then light, but not through hyperspace. So I guess that airforce medic coined it FTL.. *shrugs*

It's funny someone mentioned BSG. I get a Baltar vibe from the top scientist dude.
I don't care for him at all.
I believe that was the point in creating his character so they succeded there.

It looks interesting & i'll probably keep watching it.

Last Friday's episode was much better. No pointless sex scenes, a decent plot, and a little "WTF?" cliffhanger at the very end (the shuttle launching off of the ship while in "FTL")

Tis' possible based upon some SciFi authors, especially Jack Campbell and his "Black Jack" Geary series, awesome books by the way... And it doesn't hurt that is was written by a fellow "Squid".

I have enjoyed the show somewhat so far.

I hope it hurries up and develops more of plot than "This ship is (insert catastrophic event)"
