Full Version: LED Bulb for small screen projector?

Ok, I was going to try replace the old gas bulb from my projector, but seeing as I don't have much projection space, and 60" screen is really all I want anyway, would a bright LED bulb be a worthy replacement?

The room I'll be using it in would need to be perfectly dark for it to work also?

I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to what kind of output I can expect lumen-wise?

Say I can only find an LED capable of 300 lumens?

scratch that, in my rush to post I never researched the output of a normal bulb, its 500 - 700 lumens.

So I need something better...

Can anybody give me any ideas?

Are you talking about using a LED light in a commercial PJ?

LED Commercial PJ

or this?

LED Commercial PJ 2

Or are you talking about a DIY PJ with a LED light system? There are a lot of really good posts talking about this in different forum rooms.

Best of luck. biggrin.gif

Cool! Its gonna take me while to get this machine up and running I guess.

What kind of lumen output would I need for 60" screen in a near dark room?

I would probably PM Electrodacus... He really knows his stuff. I can do searches but I am clueless on the LED side. blink.gif

45-50 lumens will look fine for that size screen. I'd personally still WANT about 100, I think.

You could probably make do in a darkened room with 20-30 lumens, but that's getting pretty dim, IMO.
