Hi, I have a VT60LP Lamp, the bulb in it physically blew up!
Rather than pay wads of cash, I decided I would take out the old bulb from the ceramic holder (done), and fit a new one. (waiting for input!)
The Lamp has no onboard controller or trace wire to allow the projector to know the bulb is lighting, its an oldish model. It just has the main two power wires coming straight in.
I'm going to buy a metal halide bulb, make some adjustments for it to fit, wire it up.
Just need to know, how bright would the bulb need to be?
The projector is supposed to throw out 2000 lumen. How bright would the bulb need to be to achieve that? (Because I'm thinking a lot of light is lost along the way)
Also, is this possible? I just dont see the point in spending so much cash on a light, which I wouldn't be taking full advantage of.
(The bulb is in a reflective holder, within the lamp, I just removed the shattered bulb from the reflective holder by digging out all the ceramic cement. I'm planning on either putting in a type of screw in fitting, or just another similarly wired bulb. This one was wired at the bottom, and then from the top, out through the reflector and back to connector. I'm thinking if I try the screw in fitting the power might arc outside.)

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!?????? So it will work then? I was worried that there may have been some other criteria to fill, but I think it was just 160watts.
I dont know if it was pulse start or not though...

The guys at the "French site" have a guide on re-lamping a original lamp assembly I think maybe not at least they have mods for commercial PJ's... I think that somebody else has a link in the LL forums... Maybe not. I am not sure if I am allowed to post a link or not but just use Google and type relamping or something to that effect, one of the links also gives a very good reason for not doing a re-lamp job... Mostly doom and gloom stuff. I have a old Sharp and I was thinking of doing the same but I would rather wait for the chedder to buy me some parts for a DIY PJ. Best of luck.
Ok I looked and here is a very good link to some info... and it was here.

Thank you for that.
Yeah, it looks dangerous and expensive if done wrong.
I'll take my chances.
Any point in posting pictures on here to document it?
