Hi guys, this is my first attempt at building a projector and I've hit a show stopper.
I'm using a 15" gateway FPD1520 LCD panel and a 3M 2770 Portable overhead projector.
I know that the LCD works and is getting a signal (i could see the video being displayed on the panel itself)
but I'm not getting anything on the wall from my projector. The 3M 2770 OHP has a bit of an odd design that might be contributing to this.
Rather than shining the light up through the fresnel it shines down, through the fresnel hits a mirror and comes back through to the lens.
Is there a coating on the LCD that only allows light effectively through one way? Is that just a characteristic of the LCD?
If anyone has any advice for me it would be most welcome.

Thanks for your time,

You can't use that type of OHP. The lamp must be on one side of the fresnels with the triplet on the other side.

There isn't so much a coating on the LCD as it's just not letting though a lot of light.... About 5%

So with a regular lamp, you're getting 5% of the light through. With that setup you're gettoing 5% of 5% -- or 0.25% That would be why your projection is too dim to see. You're probably progecting less than 4 lumens at the screen.
