A post from Brainchild that is none other than a tease for a new LED light engine!!!! Saaweeet....!

Pardon me while I wipe the drool off of my keyboard...

That looks liek the "flyeye" which was being discussed earlier. In light of this and other recent developments in LEDs (Pardon the pun) I've updated the FAQ.

Nice!
I dig the radiator fins! Does it come standard with the super charger? or is it an aftermarket add on?!!?!
LOLOLOL
looking forward to the technology.

from what I've seen, the array is suited for a 5" screen. A nice setup has been made and discussed before using this lens and a small panel

Would be nice to see one suited for a larger panel
Johannas
well, if it eventually can accommodate a 12 inch panel... I'm on board.

I tested his projector, 150 lums, like the evo, but the led is 57w only. and the actual wattage of evo lamp is about 200w. (please test it with a power meter )

Info coming up. Also full kits: LED light engine, folded path, cooling, lenses and panels. Prices are great!

Great news. I was hoping LL would get into this when I saw a few clips for a LED projector that uses a similar led array with a lcd panel.

LuxCine on youtube

There are other clips showing the relative high brightness compared to a mh lit pj but LL would be able to confirm this when they offer their led engine.

The projector is larger than the normal commercial models because it doesn't use a tiny lcd or dlp but I believe it uses a 5 to 7 "" lcd panel perfect for a diy project. At approx the 1m 18s mark in the video you get the first picture of the led array and the multi lens fresnel. When I saw those I was hoping that either LL would get involved with a similar pj or try to get a led light engine and a corresponding panel.

Really looking forward to more information.

Yes the same equipment with some modifications and improvements from us. We have partnered with LuxCine to bring kits and fully assembled projectors. The kits will allow you to choose your own panels (or buy the "standard" from us. Parts are warrantied for 2 years. Hope to have the prices and more info posted over the next few days.

Hey everyone. Sorry for the delays. I have several interesting parts here but I've been very sick (bedridden) and haven't been able work. I thought I was going back to work today but I'm still ill. ;(

Don't worry about it. Just get to feeling batter. Work can wait smile.gif

I also working on my LED tests. Today i got small credit-card fresnels, yesterday - 10W and 20W LEDs... soon i will be ready for real testing by making small LED/fresnel matrix(array).

Don't listen to him. Hurry up jerk-ass!
haha JK

You sure know how to tease us. I always knew we were waiting on new DIY PJ goodies from LL for good reason. Looks like it's gonna be worth the wait indeed.
Color me anxious.
Get well soon!

I knew was hanging onto my litepro 550 for a reason! If it supports 7-8" screens then I'm in business!

it's funny, a few months back and LED light engines were dismissed in the forums quicker than they could be queried

I think that there was one or two successful projectors in the past made with LEDs that I can personally recall

DAZZZLA did some interesting tests with incredible LUX numbers when he played with LEDs, but nothing else came after that

Now these engines seem to have rekindled interest again.

150 lumens using a 5" screen - that's impressive. Also saw the videos of the LUXCINE projector and it looks really good (some of the subtitles are hilarious though)

Personally though, get this engine, (or even just the lenses) designed for a 15.4" screen, and then I'll be interested

I wish there was a drool emoticon. Any rough guesses on when you would be offering these Brainchild?

Anymore news? I am very curious to see if I should hold off and wait for new tech or go with tried and true tech. biggrin.gif

Did I miss anything posted elsewhere? Any news on the led engine and/or projectors made with it?:

I read the plasma lamp thread also but I'm not sure if feature wise it would solve certain concerns.

Our current lamps have a fantastic life and are easy and cheap to change but need a ballast, noisy fans and a 10 minute cool down period. The lifespan of led is said to be 20,000 to 30,000 and then the array might be a throwaway so the cost to longevity ratio might be a factor to consider, However, I'm enthused at the prospect of a quick on off light engine and the idea of a significant reduction in fan noise possibly in the low 20s db or less. Although they claim to accept full hd resolution as input, the Luxcine models on their site at svga size don't impress with their resolution but they claim to have reduced the need for a fan (not eliminated). I can't find the reference but I recall reading somewhere that it's in the range of 22 db or less but the following link of one of their models says 33db. Luxcine ESP313 which would be a lot less attractive

This is the main english Luxcine site
Luxcine led projectors

I found another Chinese company (SVIC) GT HIGH TECH LIMITED who make a native 640x480 led model which they claim has a 50,000 hour life, 1500 ansi lumen (doubtful at 100 watts) and less than 10 db. I won't post a link since the company is a competitor to a potential LL affiliate.

As far as brightness it looks really good. This is a video showing a side by side comparison of a prebuilt hid and one using the Luxcine led engine
LED Brightness Comparison

I also found this clip which addresses brightness but more importantly the relative noise issue with standard projectors and the led one by Luxcine
Listen when they turn off the hid pj

Whether it's a new pj or just the light engine I sure hope LL will be involved and look forward to some news.
