So i got my hands on a 6.5" car lcd that takes RCA. The idea simply it make it the size of a large tool box. And have a projection of 60 inchs. The inspiration came from a party the other night, were he had a old infocus projector. It sucked but everyone was awed to play games on it. So instead of looking for a nice cmpact vga and rca lcd i got a cheap $30 dollar car lcd with rca, The quality aint HD but its 60 inchs and thats almost about big enough for most walls. So the idea is a party box that can be picked up and used just whenever easily.

The projector will feature
6.5inch sharp LCD (LQ064A5CG01) (480 x 234)
Standard LL triplet lens
Standard LL fresnels
400w Bulb, ballast
Some kind of kick arse air system that rox your sox's
compact and sleak design for quick floor or ceiling mounts
perhaps a small speaker system

Seems like a decent enough idea tongue.gif

Sounds cool. I cant wait to see what you come up with. The 400W bulb might make it a little bigger then you want. For some interesting reading look at the 7" in my sig.

Yeah i went with a 400 watt cause its what i had and it is bright enough to use the screen during the day. I have all the parts and stuff im just having a rough time getting started tongue.gif god im lazy

Lol after reading sdubbs plog ive decided against my MH bulb set up for it. Instead just using perhaps a p7 LED flood lamp? still deciding, but something standard that dosnt require a heavy ballast. Also this will help cause i can get away if i make the box right with only 1 fan. Also since i could not get ahold of the 6.5inch car lcd i thought i could before i am using a 7inch portable DVD player. Would it be better for me to do a split or unsplit design. I understand how a split design works but a unsplit design confuses me. ? :S ?

I'm so indecisive XD!

So today i accomplished mounting ballast, cap, bulb, reflector, walls, 1 fan, air intake, LCD and fresnel holder. I broke my pro reflector!! D: !! my temp fix was a coffee pot top that was roughly the same size and stainless steel. If i go into high gear for the rest of the night i can have it working tonight. All thats left is cutting fresnels down to apropriet size. Mounting the frames and front piece. And mounting s15 trip. And one last large fan behind the reflector. And all the small tweaks. without fail ill be able to test it tonight biggrin.gif its not amazingly small since i had to build the case to accommodate the ginormous 400watt bulb! But all and all it looks like itll pwn for a nice xbox console biggrin.gif I should report in tonight with pictures, that is if anyone is even interested >.> also i need to find a new cable thats longer for the LCD. Annnyywhooo! lmao, this is allot of work >.>

><

I need to remake the box. Its to big. the fresnels are cut. Ive decided im remaking the box to the right size. and im going to use either a a small MH bulb like 150 or im oing to use a normal light bulb. :S frig i hate this sometimes ><

So to heck with super portability! I just want a working projector. Today i found a shelfing unit in our house that was the perfect size. quickly got to work. Within a couple hours i had allot of it finished. Im going to take pictures in a few minutes after i cool down (its hot as heck out there). I copyed Sdub's 7" portable dvd unit allot, the similarity are uncanny xD. I kept the 400 watt bulb because i had the space for it. All that needs to be dun is fans and wireing and getting a small mirror to bend the triplets projection so it goes forward instead of upwards (exactly like a OHP). I am so super happy that its coming together finally >< I need to get a new pro reflector still tho :- / also i need to get some wood for the front so it closes :- /. But the plus side is having the projector this big will allow it to cool very very easy YAY

Vendeta
so i finished everything except the mirror cause i dont have it yet.... and guess what.... the dvd player wont power up now. i hate my life.... i really do i really really do! -,- im getting so sick of rebuilding and rebuilding this peice of junk.... what a stupid idea...

LOL You will be fine! Thanks for the laugh.

It will come together just be patient and have fun with it. I know how it goes and was so mad when "somebody" tore apart the FFC on my LCD but I found one a couple of days later for cheap.

Keep up the plog. I like reading it.

-,- i do not have patients -,-

does the mirror need to be one of the special ones or can it be a normal every day mirror?

I'm going to attempt to fix the dvd player and if i can't i'm giving up -,-

I'm flat broke and in debt far to much -,-

Its better if you get a "front surface mirror" Of course you dont have to but its highly recommended. The reason is the coating on the mirror is going to give it a "ghosting image" having to go thru the coating and back thru again.

Hey Vendeta I have no patience either (ask my kids) just have to take a step back or a day off from it and get back at it. Sometimes its a lot easier if you have friend to help you (4 eyes are better 2) plus its is just fun to build with a buddy.

Keep at it. Good Luck. I will try to help you as much as possible.
