I know not really the place, but this forum explodes with brilliance, and was hoping someone could contribute to my question. I want to build an external monitor for my camcorder, it has a component and hdmi out, and was wondering if there is a small LCD kit that can do 720p, which could be suitable for this project. Thanks!

What about a 15.4" or 15.6" LCD TV capable of 720p with an HDMI input? If that's not portable enough for you, you can try a 10.6", 10.9", 11.1" or 12.1" LCD/controller kit from DIY-Beamer or AgilentPixel. You might even find a smaller 7" LCD/controller kit from other vendors capable of 720p. That one is a bit pricey, though. ManhattanLCD sells pre-made 8.9" 720p capable field monitors for the Digital Video crowd. He used to sell DIY projector parts, but I guess there's more money in Digital Video.

I noticed that your video looked as if the camera was hand-held. I don't know if that was intentional, but I thought I'd pass along a link to a DIY Steadicam solution I recently saw on Gizmodo.com.
