so i have been tryin to build a projector on and off for about six months now with problem after problem..

as i detailed in a previous thread my psone lcd stopped working with the minijack video cable.. i tried everything thing i could think off and so i decided to do the vga mod to se if that would work. it does not.

i followed some guys directions and cut the first five wires from the little board and soldered them to the correct pins on my vga cable.. i plugged it into the monitor port on my laptop and it just does nothing. its plugged in and seem to accept power (the screen goes opaque) and it still recognises a psone when that is attatched to it (i plugged the little fluero tube back in to see if it was responsive) but when attatched to the computer i get nothing.

should it not show something when i boot up windows? like the xp loading screen or something?

if anyone could give me any advice or troubleshoting for this screen that would be great as im at a bit of a loose end..

thanks alot

I know when I am using the peripheral VGA port on my laptop, I usually need to change a setting to let the computer know I am using that port. Are you able to get that port to work on some other monitor before trying the psone screen?
robwizard
yeah i plugged another monitor into it and it worked fine.. i tried changing the settings as well to what i understand would be correct for a psone.. i was then just going to swap them over or something but when i tried to do that i would change the resolution of the 2nd monitor but the frame rate could only be changed for both of them or or nothing sad.gif

im pretty confused about it.. my friend just gave me a radeon 9200 so im gonna try that on another computer.. but something must be wrong with the board itself for it to just stop working on composite and nothing to happen at all when plugged in?

cheers

Correct me if Im wrong, but dont you need to use Powerstrip or something to get it working? I have a PSone screen too lying around that I stripped a couple of years ago but never got around to building. But Im prety sure it need a special config in powerstrip for it to work if I remember correctly.

Yea you have to use Powerstrip and then set the resolution to like 640x480. And then it only works with certain video cards.

I never could get it to work with 3 different pc's.

It's also possible that the controller was no good. If it didn't work with the provided composite cable, the problem might have been elsewhere.
