Hi,

I need your help. I have a M59 ballast (coil and cap) and a UHP lamp (Not sure about the lamp), It's a 400 watt generic lamp from name removbed by moderator. Here is the link for the lamp . I want to know if I can fire up the lamp using M59 ballast safely. At least let me know if it is safe to try it ohnoes.gif . I appreciate any help and comment on this issue.

Hi, and welcome to the forums.

For reasons of previous history, I've edited your post. I apologize.

For the lamp itself, since the link that you specified didn't have specific information, you'd have to ask the vendor for that lamp. Electronic ballasts are more flexible, and will drive a wider variety of lamps, but coil 'n core ballasts have to be more specific. I would contact the vendor and/or manufacturer of the lamp for ballast recommendations.

Yes, You are right. eballasts are more flexible. I checked the lamp with a coil and cap and it did NOT fire up. I guess some type of these bulbs need an ignator to fire up. I have a eballast from the same vendor but it doesn't work with the lamp.anyway thanks for your help and sorry for the problem with my first post smile.gif
