Im having a problem with my lcd and im wondering if anyone has ever had it before and knows what could cause it. Ill attach the picture of the background of what its supposed to look like but its supposed to be kind of a white and blue explosion. whats showing up on my lcd is basically just blue where most of the background is blue and white where its mostly white, its almost as if i took a 10 pixel height of the image and stretched it to fit the whole lcd. So it appears to be working somewhat, cause it has kind of the basic coloring of the picture, but the image is no where near clear as to what it is. Also, the on screen menu wont work right, it will just change the color in the part of the screen that it appears on but you cant see it at all.

well the thing is, i had this problem before and it was because of a loose ffc, i got it secured and it was fine, even watched an upside down movie on it to make sure it was good, that was about a week ago, before firing it up yesterday i had to disconnect/connect it afew times to get it situated right in my pj box when getting lenses installed. Now any adjustment with cables yeilds the same results, so im thinking that maybe my cables' contacts have gotten worn away

Can you post a closeup picture of the ends of the FFCs? Do they look worn out?

this is supposed to be the windows loading screen, you can see the blue orange yellow and green that the window has colors of but its stretched across the whole lcd, a white bar goes across as its doing this (the loading bar) ill get up a picture of the ffcs in a few min once i get lcd out of box to check connections and get pics for brain

pulled my panel and circuitry out of my projector box, took out the ffcs and examined them, on one of them, i found what looks like a break over 2 of the contacts, lighting isnt perfect, but this gives you a basic idea, could that cause the problems im having?, by the way that part in the picture, the last 2 contacts of the ffc basically have a line over them that looks like a break

Possibly you have enough conductor left that you could trim the FFC so that you have good contacts seating in the socket. Just an idea, wait for comment from some others before trying something this drastic.
I don't have a Benq but does it appear that the FFC could be trimmed without damaging it? Definately a last resort. Also I don't know if you have any excess of conductor surface to trim.

well i just tried trimming it because i figured i was going to need a new ffc in any case, got the same results, here is what the lcd looks like when on if you can tell its basically a blue screen with parts of it being bars of lighter and darker blue

Damn! This is beyond me. I would make sure my grounds are still tight. Other than that, hopefully someone smarter than I can help. Good Luck.

at least the optics work, lol, its actually more of a balanced color, this is while it was warming up, all i can say is holy @&!#, this thing is BRIGHT, i have all of my downstairs lights on and it dosent wash the image out much at all
and by the way, the brown part on the bottom is because my rear lens isnt properly aligned, when i lift it up and center it with my fingers everything is a uniform color, i just need to properly frame and mount it to get it working good.

It is possible if you removed the cable enough times that the connector it plugs into is worn out. Some of these connectors are only rated for 10 removal/insertions

Yeah wolfcreek, I pointed him to your thread on that in chat. I think that is what might have happened. That information should probably added to the guide.

Keep your fingers crossed. Do they know, or care, that you had it stripped for a projector?

out of warranty repair, dosent really matter, someone else on here with a cracked screen is doing the same, not to mention i hacksawed the controls off, i will have to pay to have it fixed though, but better than a new lcd

Yes, we wouldn't want to be deceitful, just kind of wondering what they think of us doing this to their monitors.
