Why can't your just throw a lcd panel on a overhead projector?
I supposed you would have to raise the panel above the fresnel a little, but it should work, shoudn't it?
My friend has an old overhead and was wondering why it wouldn't be acceptable?
Am I missing something?

you can just that the bulbs don't last that long
there needs to be a gap with a fan to cool the lcd
and normaly the OHP need's a small lcd screen if you
want the whole screen shown

A while back, I came across a website called "Tom's Hardware" that discussed using an OHP as a projector.
That was my first introduction to this type of a DIY project.

You can find the guide here.

It has detailed instructions and should answer almost any question you'd have.

You'll eventually want to switch to a MH bulb as the OHP bulbs only last about 75 hours. When you get to that point, you'll probably want to build your own box to house it.

Here's a link to an article on how to "Retrofit Your Overhead Projector" that you might find helpful.

The LL forum won't let you search using a three-letter word. I find it easier to use Google for searching the LL site.

Can you do that? Sure. It even works pretty well... So long as nobody bumps the OHP.

You need to mask around the LCD, or else you get white borders around your image which are between 10 and 20 times as bright as the white areas on the picture...

If my cat lived in your house, I'd give your LCD about a 20 minute life expectancy... We call her "Destructo-kitty" for a reason...

You could probably build something reasonably sturdy that would hold the LCD on top of the OHP and keep the LCD reasonably protected, but for the effort, I'd just build the projector box.

for my first projector i used a portible OHP and uset to pieces of wood to go down each side
and 2 fans running in series to cool the lcd
i have a 200 cm / 80inch running of my 250 Whatt bulb
