I can get a ACER X163W widescreen 15.6" monitor new for $99, what kind of controller would work best with this???

Also, is this a good monitor to use for a high resolution projector??

Any answers would be appreciated. I have already been stumbling around on the LL website here for more than an hour and have not been able to come up with an answer.
Thanks in advance,

You do not need a controller it already has one. The only reason people are getting controllers are for LCD that have been pulled from laptops that have nothing to drive the video to it. If this doesn't help I will explain more.

Correct-o-mundo.

The ACER X163W appears to only have a VGA input (possible even a DVI input), so you're limited in what you can connect it to (more specs here).

As it's a 15.6" widescreen LCD monitor, you won't be able to use the S15 fresnels with it. I'd recommend using Pro-type lenses with it, but it's not unheard of to use the S15 triplet with larger 3DLens.com fresnels - but you'll have to deal with a much shorter throw.

All in all, not a bad price for a 720p capable LCD. I've seen no stripping guide for the monitor, so there's no telling if you'll run into any FFC issue.

I'm using the acer lcd right now in my man cave. Its my second one it is manufactured by Chemei. sp? I used the 15 min stripper method to remove ag. I eventually removed pola and am using high contrast pola from pola .com. That was pricey. My original pj used the s15 trip and it was great for games. However I now have it in a vertical with Besler 18'' ef triplet. I am still learning power strip so the tweaking continues.

I used the Acer X163Wb which I assume is very similar to your model. Here is my PLOG with stripping instructions: http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28682. The FFCs are flexible and present no problem, they are actually quite durable too (I had some cases where I thought I'd have to buy a new monitor).

Also, I'm using the S15 triplet with 3DLens fresnels. The end result is a bit of a fuzzy and dark corner, so if you want pure quality go for the Pro lens. Throw for my projector is 110" screen for 96" away.
