To my American friends and all those abroad who love liberty, I wish you happy Independence Day!!

At the risk of sounding corny or overly patriotic...please take a moment to remember the fathers who gave their lives for our futures.

Democracy is not something that can be given or bestowed, it must be taken and paid for in blood.
Their blood and efforts paved the way for us to be here.

Winston Chruchill once said "Democracy is the worst form of Government...except for all the others that have been tried."

Some days I really believe that.

Perhaps I'm nitpicking, however in order to truly honor my brothers and sister who have served I feel its important to help other understand that the united states is indeed not a democracy. please read this and this Perhaps the source could be more credible however its a great start to understand what the founding fathers had in mind.
I have served our country, as have many others here, in many different locations and countries and I can honestly say of the no matter how screwy it can get, I'm thankful I'm a citizen of the United States. I'm not bashing any other country, or populace as I'm sure soldiers and sailors of different nations feel the same about their respective countries. To the ney sayers be they foreign or domestic -

While ours is not a true democracy, its the best thing we have come up with so far. Now if we could just make lobbying illegal and institute a flat tax...
