I have been in the beginner form with getting some help but now i am ready

i am going to make my projector with using the Fresnel from my ohp and the triplet from a different ohp $20 total for both

i have 6 20W fluros(warm white) going to replace them and get 8 cool white or daylight $45 for 9

i am going to use 4 computer fans to cool the lights (running at 5V to keep the noise down) free had lying around the house
and 1 fan to cool the lcd (dell 153fp) $15 for the lcd, had a scratch

wood was lying around the house so going to use it.

looks like you are trying to build a pj cheap ,
however i strongly suggest you invest in a better light setup or u will be dissapointed

you can get a complete setup from 1000bulbs.com for dirt cheap , but it will not be as good as the ll eballast and lamp

i suggest you check the ll site , either the trading post or if you can afford it , the ll store is your best bet

i have tested the light source

If you are going to go with a CFL light then you will be better off using just one. Here are a few links to my PLOG where I did a bunch of testing of using regular bulbs and CFLs in my standard build. And I started with 8 CFLs, and found that using just one was the best setup. Which is not surprising considering how the rear fresnels work and all. LOL

I dont use the CFLs for anything other than tweaking just for the heat issue and all. But when I have them in there its amazing how bright just one 14w CFL can be. Granted the MH bulb blows it away, but when you think how tiny the CFL is its just amazing.

Anyway, here are a few posts of note in my PLOG. Hope it helps:

i need a triplet with 15 cm dia
SupraGuy
15cm diameter? And what FL?

You realize that such a triplet will probably cost more than the value of a very large MH lamp?

Using a fresnel as a projection lens, you can certainly use the diffuse light source, like the CFLs, but the downside is that you need a very large projection lens instead. Large light source = large projection lens.
