I just got interest in DIY projector.
I saw the gallery here. They are so AWESOM.
but todays we can get the projector for $400.
If i spend $400 to Diy the projector. what is the difference between DIY and $400 projector

thank you

As I am joing the hype to the ansers so far for me are:

Satisfaction of building it youself / bragging rights

replacement bulbs are a fraction of the price of commercial projectors and hold a longer lamp life.

This has been asked so many times. And the answer is very simple. Bulb replacement cost. You can find replacement bulbs for a DIY PJ for under $50. Compare that with several hundred for a commercial PJ. Yeah ours are larger, but at the end of the day its all about how much you want to spend in the years to come, and how you are going to be using the PJ.

Glad your interested! If you do decided to build one you will love it! Its a very unique build. Out of all the things I have built over the years I don't think anything is quite like the first time you start up your very own DIY PJ and see it shoot a 12 foot picture on the wall!

Hope my answer helps a bit. Do some searching on here and you will find MANY MANY MANY other reasons to go DIY. But for most of us its the cost and the pleasure of doing it ourselves.

HOW BIG CAN WE SHOOT?
BIGGER THAN STORE PJ CAN SHOOT?

I know that mine will go upwards of 15 feet wide. I have not really been able to go full scale yet due to lack of a place to test it out. My ceilings are 9 feet tall and I know that I can shot large enough that I have a good bit on the ceiling and floor.

Here is a screen shot of mine just to give you a clue:

And the projection was 8 inches from the floor.

Also, mine can go down to this small as well.
