Hi,

I work in a company where we have two shops. In one, we have 5 CNC machines but in the other one, it has only "regular" machines. We would like to buy a RoGR for this shop. Obviously, with the CNC machine from the other shop, we would be able to machine all the parts necessary.
My question is: is there a post or a tutorial where I would be able to find all the information concerning the parts necessary to build the machine (dimension, components, etc...)

Do I need to buy the "pro" membership for that? When you're gonna spend that much in a machine, 19 more dollars are nothing but I wanted to know what this was for.

Thank you in advance

Phife
there are no tutorials or posts with the dimensions of the RoGR parts. RoGR is not really ready for sale from LL.. I am making a RoGR, well atleast RoGRs cousin since my design is somewhat different than the LL design.

I just made a .PDF of all the aluminum parts fully dimensioned for my machine. I also have a complete CAD model.

If you want to build a RoGR from scratch you will have to pretty much DIY and design your own. I wanted to build the RoGR when I first found out about it over a year ago. I started collecting parts and figureing it out back in September.. here i am some 7 months later with a nearly complete machine. But i had to learn CAD, CNC machine design, Electronics and several other things since I didnt have any knowledge before hand.

I may make the .PDF dimensions available to those that want to build my version of RoGR, But I dunno If LL would approve.

Its by no means simple, and very time consuming. so if you have the time, skills and $$ then you could probably build one in a few months..

To add to that don't expect precise and complete plans anytime in the very near future. Maybe in like . . . 6 months? Manpower is low at LL but tenacity and spirit abound. Patience is a necessity around here.

Edit: Become a member and you can expect a bit more support direct from Brainchild and rturner I'd wager.

Hi, as long as your machine shop can handle parts up to 10" x 12" and 6" x ~19.5", 20mm bores into 6061-T5 aluminum, and .75" drills/bores into mild steel, and can maintain an overall tolerance of about .002" (on the aluminum parts, about .0075" on the steel), you can make the parts for a RoGR. From scratch it will take somewhere on the order of one man-week to make the parts (on a hand-operated knee mill) and begin assembly. Assembly and tramming will take several days as well... I don't know what our policy is on handing out the design... though, if you were a customer I'm sure we could work with you.
For better or for worse, the bulk of our current work is centered around the micRo, so there's not a whole lot of time to work on mechanical drawings for the RoGR. However, the parts are relatively easy for me to draft into either solidworks or autocad (though they were all hand-drafted), but the real time consuming part is dimensioning the drawings for end-users. I could make the solidworks parts files or the un-dimensioned autocad files available for the adventurous....

For other inquiries, you should send an email to Kellie at support@lumenlab.com......

While you'd be distributing our intellectual property, or at least some of it would be, I'm not opposed to you posting your drawings. But you may want to ask Grayson first. I'll mention it to him and see what he says.

its taken my guy about a little over 1 full week of work to complete my version of RoGRs aluminum pieces. Although mine has alot more aluminum to mill.

I have a 15 page .PDF complete with dimensions for ALL my version of RoGRs parts, as well as a complete hardware list, which I would love to share, I can export it in Metric or Imperial.

I will ask BC if he has an issue with this just cause Im a nice guy.. although.. really.. I designed everything myself with very little help from you guys.. you guys did tell me to go do it myself.. so there really isnt any of LL intellectual property in my machine..

I really would like to work with you guys (LL Crew) on getting RoGR complete for others to build.. but if thats of no interest I may just.. do it myself..

Hey Phife, sorry, didn't mean to sound snippy. I'll send you a message regarding options for collaboration..

Phife
oh no problem robin, you didnt come across snippy at all.. Actually my post sounded snippy.. lol

But ya.. I sent a message to BC, we'll see if he replys.. Like i said, I really would love to help out gettin RoGR done, but ive asked before, with no response.
