Im sure this has been discussed alot here. Except I dont want to do this for a projector. I would like to build a large wall of LEDS and power 4 17 inch monitors to make one large monitor.
What are the cheapest leds I could buy to do this?

For a little more, you could just buy a 42 inch TV and be done with it...
The benefit of the monitors can easily be outweighed by the size. Unless you have the LCD's sourced very cheaply, you will eat the cost of the project in the LED panels.
..and you wouldnt have a cross hatch on your video array..
