my friend is building his first projector and he is using a dell153 FPB. I have not stripped one of these yet. It is dim on both sides. My question is ..is there ag on both sides?
Thanks

I think Windcalmer used a variation of that LCD monitor. Try this Google search, as well: site:lumenlab.com dell 153FPB

The numbers of layers on the front of the LCD differ with different LCDs. On the backlight side, some LCDs might have a polar layer, TAC layer and a reflective layer. The reflective layer may come off in two "layers" (see Help me to decide to strip my 10.6" LCD and maybe philw's PLOG). There typically isn't any anti-glare applied to the backlight side.

I would recommend that you leave the front alone and try projecting with it. If you still want to strip it, read as much about stripping LCDs as you can, and then try polishing it. wink.gif
If that still doesn't work for you, and you're satisfied that you won't kill yourself if you end up killing your LCD, then go for it.
