Has anyone stripped this lcd tv I was thinking about buying but couldn't find any info on here i did a site INSIGNIA NS-LCD15 site:lumenlab.com and got nothing? I can get it for 60 just worried about ffc issues?

I found no mention of any Insignia NS-LCD15 on the LL site.
There really is no guarantee that you'll end up with the same LCD panel that somebody else got, because manufacturers will sometimes change the LCD panel they use in the middle production.
Is it the NS-LCD15F 4:3 1025x768 LCD, the widescreen NS-LCD15-09 or the NS-LCD15-09CA widescreen?

Hey I just got my Insignia 15" widescreen off craigs list , model # is ns-lcd15-09ca. Very easy to strip , no FFC issue wutsoever , very compatible with my projector. It is 1080i with component and VGA and S-Video and TV input can increase britness allot too. Great unit for my projector, and I only paid $125 for it! I hope this helps someone, and I hope I dont mess up my panel while I'm tweaking my PJ or cook it. Sorry no pics cause I dont have a camara. Thx guys.

jamesdude005, it appears that your LCD was 15.6", according to BestBuy's specs. It's even got an HDMI input, so you can take full advantage of digital HD.

Out of curiosity, what kind of lenses are you using with it?

Borrow somebody's digital camera and get some pics up! wink.gif

I'm using Standard Kit from http://www.lumenlab.com/, LL was out of stock. 330 Triplet, 220 Fresnal / 320 Fresnal.
So far so good, just moved my lamp for more brightness. Very clear picture, much better than my LCD on on OHP that I had before.

Thanks for the info.

Just to let you know (in case you're wondering), LL redirects some links from competitor's websites back to their own. It's an automatic thing.

Enjoy!

I just picked up a NS-LCD15 yesterday ($90 used). Looked like it was the F model, but the specs for the F model online don't show it with HDMI or digital tuner... mine has HDMI, will check if it has ATSC tuner as well. But yeah, the tear down was quick and clean. No FFC issues at all. Nice thing was I took the housing from around the backlight off and mounted the screen back into the frame it came with nice and secure with parts from the backlight housing. biggrin.gif Can't beat all the specs you get from the tv for the price.

The compatibility db entry says this monitor has an issue due to very short FFCs. Do you have 4:3 screen? No FFC issue?

Could you post pics of the monitor strip? TIA!

Unfortunately, the compatability list is usually based off of small numbers of samples, and manufacturers change things as different parts become avaialble. One 15" LCD is very much like another in terms of making it fit in the cases, so if it's less expensive enough to be worth changing the controller, they'll do it.

In this case, I'd say that it's a compltely different controller, given that the one stripped had the HDMI/Digital tuner, and the other did not. (Why manufacturers do this without changing the product number signifigantly is a mystery to me.) Sometimes this even happens with NO change in the product number itself, but the "Revision A" will be one way, and "Revision B" will be another.

This is why the compatability database shoud be taken as a guideline, and not as the gospel truth.
