psone screen ISN'T* quite workin...

ok so my lens finally arrived from the americas whoop! and i built a couple of cardboard mockups of the enclosure and stripped my psone screen etc.. and it worked!! i was totally stoked!

im using four daylight balanced cfl lamps for the lighting unit and i was just projecting on to some lining paper but it sure as hell worked! whilst i was doin the trial i was just using the psone as the video source and it was all grand.. then i found a composite video wire in my camcorder bag so i gave that a bash with the dvd player and it worked so i figured i could step up my game! rolleyes.gif

i proceeded to build the enclosure out of wood, attatch all the neccesary wiring, took it into my living room eagerly, wired it up to the dvd player and..... nothing?!?!

i have taken the whole thing to bits now and it still works fine with the psone screen.. but i dont get anything at all using the dvd player?

can anyone possibly think how this would have happend and advise me what i should do next? blink.gif

thanks alot guys

note: im not sure if composite video was the correct term, it is RCA im trying to use from the dvd player to the screen and having no luck doing so smile.gif

cheers

Composite video is the single RCA jack, usually yellow, from your DVD player, audio will be red/white and component will be red/blue/green

One thing I can think of that "got" me with my psone screen is that I made the mistake of connecting it to my DVD player and forgetting to switch the DVD player from progressive to interlaced mode. Could this be your issue???

hmmm it could well be.. i just find it so strange that it worked for like five minutes.. i took it away.. and when it came back it was just.. nothing! very strange.. i guess i could have broken it sad.gif

at the moment im just using the psone and playing tony hawks pro skater 2.. but i would much much rather be watchin a dvd or somethin. i have searched for a way to convert my dvd player to interlaced with no luck.. does anyone have any suggestions? i was thinking of doing to s-video mod and trying it on my computer? or the vga mod.. but that looks verrrrrry difficult blink.gif

if anyone has any advice for me i would be stoked smile.gif

cheers

Any new information on this? I would like to know myself. I also just picked up a new PSOne to use, and I can't get anything to show up on the screen. I have tried hooking it to my computer via s-video to rca composite, vcr composite to the 3.5 mono jack, tv to PSOne, and even a little plug-in Pac Man game (surprisingly this showed up on the screen for about 5 seconds!).

This is driving me insane, and I can't tell if there is something wrong with the PSOne or how I am trying to hook it up. I just want to test the screen before taking it apart. The only thing I have been able to see on the screen (besides the 5 seconds of the Pac Man game) is the bars for the brightness and volume control.

I was planning on using the PSOne in a projector that would be built to accept a 7" screen down the road when I have more money, but if I can't get the thing to work my plans are toast.

Okay, I think I might have figured out where I went wrong. The 3.5mm mono plug adapter is probably not what I need. I understand from reading that I probably need a 4 pin (ring) 3.5mm adapter, even if I am only running video into it. So...I will try picking one of those up and seeing if that works when I get home this evening.

Edit: that solved my problem! Doh! Should have made sure I had the right 3.5mm plug to begin with.
