ok i just purchased a Mitsubishi LVP-XD10U with a supposid bad bulb.

at first the bulb would do nothing. i took it out. visually inspected it. and put it back in a reinstalled the cover.

now when i turn it on. the bulb will come on for about 2-3 seconds. then shut off. during this time the bulb starts to get brighter like its warming up. then turns off.

just wondering what you guys thought. do bad bulbs light up at all?

You don't say if you see any LED activity. According to the User Guide (lamp info on Page 15), it doesn't sound like it's the lamp.

I would guess that it's a cooling or ballast issue.

led activity is a slower green blinking that also blinks with the power/standy at the same time.

it does not turn off after one minute tho. maybe 2-3.

the closest according to that manual is the temperature too high.

as i said. the bulb strikes. is on for 3-5 seconds. at this time no led is on. then it turns off and the led begins to blink green again.

i actually got two projectors off ebay as a package. the first ones bulb tray cover was just not properly installed. i fixed it and fired right up. with only 500 hours on it.

im hoping this one is an easy fix too. that would mean i have two working projectors for $25 biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

ok.noticed a couple things.

when i plug in the projector. it will just stay on standby unless i press the power button quickly within 2 seconds of powering on. when i do get it to power on. the color wheel kicks on. and now im hearing a buzzing sound.

the light kicks on for a sec and turns off.

i looked at the bottom side of the ballast. and what looks to be a resistor or capacitor. labeled 800 and 300 with a circle on it. actually is emitting light and clicking when ballast is supposed to be lighting the bulb.

its kinda hard to explain. but heres a pic.
