I saw a thread here on how to replace polarizer with built in adhesive using a rubber ruler while you remove the protective layer.

I was wondering which is better to buy. a pola sheet with adhesive or with no adhesive. if its not adhesive do we just sandwitch with a layer of glass?

You can do that but under controlled conditions. Otherwise lint and/or bubbles as well as fingerprints left behind might be an issue. As far as I understand, the protective layer and the adhesive release sheet is a wave retarder that may affect the polarity of the 2 polars on either side of the lcd thereby discoloring the image projected. Best to use non adhesive and butted up against the lcd directly with no spacing.

Do you just tape it on the sides. lcd gets warm so is there a better way? don`t really want to use another piece of glass.

Without examining how you built your rig I'd say silicone the edges preferably onto the frame of the lcd. I did see elken2004 frame his polar but I don't beleive he butted up his to the panel and apparently works. Please research his topics for this.

ok. thanks. but is this pola not a thin sheet film? Do you mean just stretch it on all edges and let it sit like this without any riggit glass against it? If this is what you mean the silicone method would not likely work. I mean how would you stretch and keep it stretched out while on the wood frame for instance?

Perhaps stretch it out on a frame and just secure it with the right size black metal paper clips?
