Quick question here as I m tired of searching every where with no direct specific answer !!
I built my projector with a MST controller which only have 1 HDMI input.
So I plugged my PS3 with HDMI, and my computer with VGA (I know it support 1080p so ...)
A good friend just bought a Samsung 52" 1080P TV and asked me how to plug his PC to it !
I had a 35" VGA cable unused so I gave it to him letting him know that VGA supports 1080P, so he's gonna be just fine !
Then he had to change his graphic card. I bought him a little geforce with HDMI output!
He bought a 25' HDMI cable and I plugged it into his 52" TV instead of the VGA ..
WAOW !!! that is a completly different league !!
I NEED ME PJ TO BE LIKE THAT !!!!
whites are so clear, everything is soooo clear !
So my question is: Can I use a dvi dual link to HDMI cable, plug it into a cheap HDMI switch that will give signal from my PC and PS3 to the PJ ?
I plugged, a year ago, my cousin's PC to his 20" LCD monitor with a DVI-d dual link cable and it didn't worked.. I had to use a DVI-D single link to have it working proprely !
So I m wondering if I m using a controller to drive my panel (MST), will this work with dual link DVI ?
Or it doesn't matter as it will be converted to HDMI ?
And do I have to check some specific specification for the HDMI switch ? (beside HDMI 1.3).
The one I looking at is This one from Ebay , but it says "Frequency bandwidth: 1.65Gbps(single link)" so maybe a DVI Dual link won't work ?
From what I think, DVI-HDMI will not loose any quality, and no matter if it s a dvi dual or single link, it will do the job as its converted to HDMI !
And the switch is just fine, I will not loose any quality either!
I'll just have to be sure to get some good High Speed HDMI cable from the switch to the PJ, a good quality dvi to hdmi, and everthing will be perfect ! (from monoprice)
I will have perfect white like my friend have on his TV !!
Am I wrong ?
Am I missing something ?
Thanks a Bunch !!!
