Hi, not sure if this has been covered before (couldnt find anything similar)

I am very new to off grid power generation but this my situation:
At the end of my garden i have a shed/summerhouse thing (will try and find a pic). I would like it to have its own power supply to power a few lights (power saver bulbs) and perhaps a small heater in winter. So far I have come up with using:

Solar panel on the roof to trickle charge the battery(ies)
Car battery(ies) to store the power
Alternator to take the voltage back up to 240V

I chose solar as it is less conspicuous than a wind turbine on the roof and the equipment itself seemed cheaper. (Have looked at this charger http://www.outdoorgb.com/p/solar_powered_1...rickle_charger/ )

So basically:
Do you think 1 or 2 car batteries would be enough?
Do you think such a small charger would be powerful enough (if i used 2 batteries I would use 1 per battery)
any other comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Appears I should have done more research. Have just found all the info i need to calculate this myself. (Amp hours of battery, power of charger, draw of bulbs etc.)
