I got a Da-Lite High Gain pull down screen for Chistmas. While researching if this was what I wanted, I found a few good comments about them. But not a lot of feedback is out there from actual users. Let me say that as far as I am concerned, it is the finishing touch to tweaking out my projector (second one of my DIY experience), which is a pro build with 17" Dell monitor and pro lense and T15 light kit from Lumenlab. I was surprised at how a screen can improve the resolution and clarity when it is added to the mix. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of doing an upgrade for a brighter, clearer picture, and will be viewing from a narrow viewing cone in front of the screen, to try this not so inexpensive option. You won't be disappointed. I found even the view from outside the viewing angle more than 30 degrees, that it was much like my old painted wall screen. So, it still serves a purpose, when viewing from the sidelines. cost with delivery here in New Brunswick, Canada was around $600. I just wanted to post this so someone who is entertaining the idea to spend a bit of hard earned cash, but not sure where to spend it, that I was very satisfied. And no, I don't sell for Da-Lite. LOL

It's thoughtful of you to post this opinion. If I ever get around to moving my projector and constructing a proper and dedicated home theater room in the next couple of years I fully intend to go with a screen with gain. Thanks.

There are actually quite a few threads where I have thoroughly examined the benefits/drawbacks of the Dalite High Power screen.

And I have always said that it is the absolute BEST way to make your projector 2-3 times brighter smile.gif

Anything between the edges of the screen has an almost 3x brightness boost. When you go past the edges of your screen you get rapid dropoff down to blackout cloth level.

So as long as your sofa isn't wider than your screen then it's good.

Not wanting to sound like an a$$ or nit picking I really only ask this to be 100% shure I am looking for the right screen.
Is the name of this screen by Da-Lite called "High Power" which one would think means it has a High Gain. Or is it named "High Gain". Or does Da-Lite make screen models with both names Da-Lite High Power and Da-Lite High Gain?

OK I do look a bit like an A$$ but could you please hobbyer give a link to the right screen so I can see...The Light...LOL

The Da-Lite screen is indeed called a "High Power". A simple internet search on "Da-Lite High Power" will provide about all the info you can handle. biggrin.gif

Of possible interest is this link that has photos of a number of Da-Lite screen samples subjected to various images as compared to blackout cloth. I which the reviewer had a better camera and had used more meaningful images, but it might be worth a look anyway.

Here is another link at Da-Lite explaining how the High Power screen works.

My Da-Lite model B glass beaded screen just arrived today. It has a gain of 2.5 and measures 96x96.

I have two projectors, a Mitsubishi PK-10 which is a DLP/LED projector that has fairly low lumens and I have a LumenLab eVo 1.1.

I will have it installed this weekend and will post back in this forum about the screens' performance. In comparrison to what I currently have employed as a screen (a high thread count king size sheet streched on a pine frame) it has to perform better.

I spent roughly $170 U.S.D. plus shipping, I don't think that was too expensive what-so-ever if this screen has the gain and resolution it's reported to have.

When it came down to it, I figured it was pointless to post pics... Fir-crying-out-loud I was using a sheet before I bought a glass beaded screen!
While you can tell the differance between the sheet and the Da-Lite screen with my on-phone camera, the crappy photos from a crappy camera do the real image no justice. The greatest advancement has been the +2 Gain, esspecialy in concerns to the little PK-10 whose LED lit image is now bright enough to watch during any day time hour with moderate light control.
