Hi I have a unique situation with the room I will be putting my projector in. The ceiling slants near the edges so ceiling mount is a problem. I dont want to put it in the floor in front of me as the angle would be to great for proper keystone and focus with a pull down screen (can't tilt easily). Anyway I have a wall that I can put it in as behind the couch I sit on is a nice little storage cubby hole (attic). I would like to build the projector to be inside this cubby hole. Anyway the wall the cubby hole is in is 15' from the point where the screen will be so even with the pro lense the screen is going to be quite huge. I read somewhere that you may be able to make the screen size smaller by using a folded design. Does that include the simple folded design with one reflector. I could build this with a 17" monitor in a verticle design with the lense on the upper side and it would actually fit in the cubby hole better as the ceiling is slanted in there as well. Would a simple verticle single reflector design shrink the screen a little? What is the ratio of distance to diag inches for the various projector types? What type would you reccomend? Has anyone else mounted a projector in a wall? Thanks for any feedback you can give me.

this is the layout I am talking about

I believe the size of your projected image is fully dependent upon the lens system (field fresnel and projection triplet) and the throw distance. Some small adjustments may be available by the distance of the field fresnel from the LCD.

The folded designs allow the box to be smaller. The required focal lengths are the same but when you fold the light path, you can change the shape and size of the box.

There are designs where the light is on the bottom and the mirror and lens is on top. See Joe2000chevy's design

Perhaps I am missing something, but cant you just invert the plans above? To re orient the bulb location and add height to the Projector?
