I'm new to this forum and and I want to make a Poll at the last minute. Tomarrow I have a choice of 2 projectors to choose from. The Guy only wants $180 for either one. I just want the best of the two. I did some research but to me they sound close.

PHILIPS PROSCREEN 4750 OR NEC MultiSync MT1030

I was going to build my own but for this price you cant beat it. Both of the bulbs are almost new i guess they got em from a few schools and that never used them.

I want you to put into factor that my living room is 12' x 10' so that would go in consideration as far as throw distance.
But im only looking for a 70x70 screen or around there.

THANKS GUYS!!! EVERY ONES OPINION COUNTS!!!!

PUT IT LIKE THIS. IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE OR YOU WOULD DIE WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE? lol
SERIOUSLY? ALL HELP IS THANKFULL!!!!

I think you will get a lot more responses if you list the specs... it is a lot of effort to look them up.

Im sorry it's the NEC MT1030+ not just a regular MT1030 and comes with a remote.

Has 1100 Lumens and is pretty much blowing the Phillips out of the water.
I think for 180 bucks this is the best one I've found with out construction.

I know little about these projectors, but I, like you, think the NEC looks to have a bit better spec sheet.
The only thing I would do now, is to check the price of a replacment Lamp for each projector and go with whichever one uses the cheapest Lamp.

Well, the Phillips doesn't list image size, so the throw is hard to figure. Can't tell if it'll work inthe room, but if the guy will let you try it...

Other than that, the NEC wins hands down.

300:1 contrast vs 170:1
Keystone correction (Albeit digital, which isn't nearly as good as optical) vs none.

Downside: Takes more power (250W vs 190W)

The cheaper lamp replacement could swing the balance though. (I didn't look up costs.)

I've been a fan of projectorcentral.com for a long time and I remmeber that there were a lot of problems with the Philips projectors buring through bulb quickly. So all things considered (the better contrast etc) I would go with the NEC

HOWEVER! - Having had several commercial pj I can tell you now, you are going to hate replacing those expensive bulbs!

What you save on the pj you will be eaten alive on the replacement bulb (easily 400 new) on these old pj, especially if the bulb dies a couple of months after you get it.

On top of that, neither of these pjs handles anamorphic, so even though your dvd player can be adjusted, hdtv can't, resulting in that squished image.

My advice: keep looking and spend perhaps up to another $100-150 on a more recent and more equipped(ie hdtv capable) pj.
