Hi all, hoping for some help. finally got around to building a HTPC for my system but am having some problems getting my beamer to display properly from the PC

here's my set up

Beamer
10.6 samsung
MST controller
150 W HID with pre condenser
Screen Grandview 16:9 92"

i have sony PVR running at 720p and it does a great job for movies via the HDMI inputs
and a pic of the setup

now the HTPC

Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H
AMD Processor 5000+
Hauppauge Nova T-500 MCE (dual digital tuner)
SATA 1TB drive for Storage
SATA 320G drive for OS
Thermaltake DH101 case

PC is up and running properly currently using vista MCE again does a great job with movies at 720p but screen fonts are illegible at resolutions above 800x600 i have a feeling it has something to do with the way the MST controller send the image to the LCD. I noticed in the MST specs it doesn't specify being capable of 1280x768 don't know if this is the problem.

Also have looked through the posts and others seem to have managed clean and crisp looking displays so i am hoping this is something that can be rectified

screenshots to follow

Cheers

any ideas why or how it can be corrected?

You have to have the PC sending the native resolution of the panel.

If it is 1280x768 then the PC needs to be set for that. Or it might need 1280x720.

Try different resolutions until you get one that works properly.

jon suggestion is the best one, use the native resolution of the screen. This is where you will get the clearest, sharpest text.

If you have your heart set on a lower res, you can try using ClearType (I'm not sure how much it will help as our text looks REALLY messed up).

1) Go To Start - Settings - Control Panel - Display. The Display Properties Window will appear.
2) Go to the "Appearance" tab and click the "Effects" Button
3) Check the box that says "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" and make sure ClearType is chosen in the drop down menu.

Hit OK and OK again and this should smooth out your fonts. If you don't have the cleartype option in your display properties I believe you can go to microsofts website and download the cleartype application.

Thanks guys, have tried setting it to it's native resolution and the fonts become completely illegible so will try the clear type suggestion and let you know how i go smile.gif

Tried the above suggestions and still the fonts are unreadable at any resolution above 800x600. and funnily i can set the display to almost any resolution right up to 1900x1080 except what is specified as the native resolution of 1280x768 where the lcd just turns blue. IS it possible that the MST i have is not flashed correctly for the 10.6

change the cables A TO B, or (B TO A)

Thanks carpow, this worked fine. fonts now display correctly, still have an issue when trying to set the resolution to 1280x768 but have got around that by setting it to 1360x765 and scaling the image to fill the panel.

the corrections to the lvds A to B has improved the overall quality of the pic and pixelation has disappeared the image is fantastic.

will try to take some pics tonight and show the difference
