I was wondering what the best projector would be for what I intend on using it for which is
1) XBOX 360
2) Playstation 3
All I care about it high quality picture just like or atleast close to what I get on my 42" HDTC LCD which supports 480i,720p,1080i. I don't know whether I should build one or should I buy one? I would rather buy one but I just wanted an opinion from more experienced people. On my 42" LCD Is have the playstation three connection through an HDMI input and all the games I play are in 720p even though the T.V says 1080i I've been told and my 360 is connected through RGB inputs I believe their called and displays at 720p I believe as well but the tv always says 1080i except when I'm watching movies and regular cable tv with the exception of HD channels and movies.
If someone could help me I would really appreciate it, better to build or better to buy factory? And what would best suit my needs? Thank you for your time.

This is a tough question to answer. Well, which projector to buy is the tough part. Since you say that you dont really want to build one then you shouldn't. The only real advantages to building a projector is you get the satisfaction of building it yourself, and you get a long lasting cheap bulb. You used to be able to save money, however that really is not the case anymore unless you are talking 1080p... but now you are really only saving a couple hundred dollars over a commercial unit.
I have a 10.6" 720p diy projector I have been running for almost 2 years. It is awesome, everyone that sees it can't believe how good the picture is. However, to me, the blacks are no where near good enough and the lack of contrast is just straight up annoying. The reason I built my projector is because I love to build things, and I couldn't afford a commercial unit. With a diy projector you are almost always going to have either black crush or white crush. Bright seens will always look amazing, and dark scenes will always look gray and the picture will always lack shadow detail. Now the question is rather or not you are the type of person that gets annoyed by these things. The truth is I love my projector and I put about 4-8 hours on it a day for my 360 and hd watching. I am salivating to buy a comercial 1080p unit. I was going to upgrade the DIY route but the lack of contrast is a huge killer for me.
These opinions are coming from someone who endlessly tweeks the diy projector. I believe that my projector looks as good as it possibly can. I should also mention I have a dalite high power screen which made my projector look 100x better than it did before the screen.
Now... you need to now a few things to get this question answered
1)budget
2)size of room
3)light controlled?
4)size of projected screen
5)screen or wall to projecto on
6)Can you afford replacement lamps
7) are you willing to get addicted to front projection... because even with a comercial unit you will... believe me
A better place to ask this is on another board which I am not sure I can recommend on here so I won't. This board is strictly for DIY things, so most don't know much about the commercial units.
Good luck, and wait to be blown away by projection... my screen is 141" diagonal or 10ft wide by 6ft high and I wonder how I ever enjoyed watching any "big" screen tv before.
