WD40 or Dot 3 lube added that help to disassemble mine. There is the issue of any chemicals on any lens that may cause damage to possible UV or polar type filter inlaid on the lens itself but I don't think there is any on the 18" Beseller that I know of. Anybody?
I don't think there are any filters, but there is usually an extremely thin anti-reflection layer that could easily be damaged by chemicals or almost any force beyond light buffing. It would be better to build a tool. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes with a pair of big nails, a foot of 2X4 and a grinder. I'd make sure the nails are too short to actually touch the glass for extra safety.
The heat method mentioned previously is a good option. The mount is all metal on most opaque projector lenses and could easily be heated with a hot rag to make it expand and loosen the threads. It should practically fall out.
Good luck.
BTW, I know where you can get one without a bunch of crap inside it. Cough...Trading Post...Cough
