Full Version: LCD panels without anti-glare

Hello All,
Our schools want to build DIY projectors to use with our DIY digital interactive whiteboard. For details, see:
http://wyxs.net/web/wiimote/digital_whiteboard.html

However, the risks of damaging the LCD panels when removing the anti-glare filter seem too high.

We have a couple of questions on LCD panels without anti-glare:
- Do they exist?
- Manufacturers, brands, types?
- Where to buy bare LCD panels?

Yes, we expect them to be high priced, but that is relatively unimportant if you compare lamp lifetime and lamp price of commercial video projectors versus DIY projectors. Generally speaking, we calculated DIY projectors to be 20 times cheaper in lamp usage than commercial projecors.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kind regards,

Hi.

Johnzo from "http://www.manhattanlcd.com/" sold me a 12incher that had no anti-glare. For his other products, you might want to ask the man himself.
As for removal of the anti-glare, I found that on older 15 inch lcd's, it was easier. For new panel, it was a bit harder.

Other members might have other sources.

Nice project you have.

Cheers!

There is of course the process of 'Polishing' the antiglare with a polishing compound such as Mother's Mag Polish rather than removing the AG itself. A fairly safe mod but requires several applications in order to smooth down the AG to a gleam.
