Full Version: 17" Vertical PJ

Hey everybody. I thought it would be helpful to the forum if I made a 3D model of the 17" vertical projector that was outlined by Joe. All of my dimensions are more than exact but I didn't include them in the pictures yet. I designed this pj around the dimensions of the Samsung 710N. Let me know what you guys think.

Can we use the mirror for keystone control instead of the front fresnel?
pjgibbs
nice job on the 3d design looks great!

jessyka,
yes you can use the mirror to correct keystone but you may not need much key stone correction if any on a vert design

Yes you can. That's what I plan to do with mine. You'll need some sort of pivot mount instead of the fixed-groove mount shown in the (very nice) 3-D drawings above.

Nice 3D work , SW im guessing. Makes me rethink my horz design. I've lugged it around and its a PITA to set up. I still havn't made a base and its akward with out.

Again, Nice work... wink.gif

Thanks guys. smile.gif Right now I'm just doing some light tracing on the model to make sure that the dimensions are perfect. Once I'm sure everything's good I'm going to post an executable that will allow everyone to rotate, zoom, etc. so you can all look at it as closely as you want from any angle you please.

Alright here it is guys. Enjoy.

P.S. Tips: Press down your scroll wheel to manipulate the model, (ctrl + scroll wheel) to move the model, scroll to zoom.

Very nifty model.

One comment - if you are using the Pro Lens, then the illustration does not correctly depict the way this lens is mounted.

The Pro Lens is surface-mounted on the light box. The flange is drilled and tapped in 3 places (120% apart) for an M4 machine screw. Thus, the barrel of the lens would not protrude into the back of the light box as shown.

Hope this helps.

nice work biggrin.gif , however I noticed your lamp / reflector is not centered.

Thanks for the tip buckyball. I will update the model to reflect that. It would be really helpful if someone could give me more exact dimensions of the pro lens; I just had to guess really.

Thanks moose. I know that the lamp isn't centered in one of the dimensions, I left room for a mogul base but I was too lazy to model that part.

Let me know what you guys think of the executable 3D model.

sweet model...kinda too big for my space thoug:( too bad. Still dealing to get my 15" done, man is not too easy, but looks worth the pain smile.gif

Hey brain, what about getting some 3d model like that on the new version of the guide ;P

Tim, I really would like to buy the 710N but i don't know if it has FFC issues. Did you have any problems with yours?

Very nice work btw and TIA

Yeah, once you've downloaded the .exe file in the previous post you can use the measure tool and measure anything you want.
