would I be ok if I wedged something (flame ressistant between my lamp and my fan. Wouldn't block air flow too much. As it stands there is a laser beam shooting out the back and it washes the image out too much:(

Is your fan nestled right up against the lamp? Things can get WAY toasty there but don't be afraid to experiment but while doing so pay very careful attention to potential overheating. Charcoal treated air filters have been said to be nice for blocking light - I bought one but haven't experimented with it yet. I think rpearsey is the member put me onto it? Just search my old posts for details.

Something with non-reflective flat-black surfaces like a grill vent can help a lot.

i used charcoal filters in all of my builds and they work great and barely restrict the air flow.

You could put some pvc pipe on it in a series of bends, like a "S" shape. I think with a few 90 defree angles it would block the light.

DO you have some pics of your build? Not knowing how its all put together I would say try some thin sheet metal. Just paint it with the high heat ceramic paint adn it should be fine.
