Ok, my pj is built (I can sleep YAY!!!!!). My image is sharp... but very washed out. Not making me feel happy about the hundreds of £/$/hours that have gone into it:(

As my enclosure is as good as one could hope for, my optical alignment is spot on (I think) and my room is as dark as the night (full plog to follow) I can only assume it is one of 2 things.

1. I have a slight crack in my fresnel (collimating) caused by trying to cut it down to size was much harder then I thought it would be. I have ordered a new one so if anyone has a tip on how to cut these better than I did (stanley knife) please let me know. I have an unsplit setup so I dont think this slight crack would effect overall brightness contrast.

2. The dredded antiglare. Nothing pains me more then the thought of destroying my expsensive screen with a toxic substance but I fear I must to get the result I'm after. Can someone please point me onto a thread that gives a "how to" for removing a/r by the stripping method as oppsosed to the soaking method. JonJandran seems to be the most well versed when it comes to sharp wuxga ag removal.... your guidance is much appreciated.

Sean

(sorry for duplicate thread last time I posted...bad day - I'm sure you all know what I mean;)

Have you already removed the reflective layers?

Is the front of the box totally blocked off from the back?

Have you considered polishing the antiglare with Mothers Mag Polish instead of risking the Lcd?

whoa - you stumped me!

I havn't removed any layers (took your advice) as I wanted to see my final result.

When you say is the front totally blocked off from the back, do you mean - is there any light seaping from the rear of the enclosure - to the front. If so then no.

I havnt heard of mothers mag polish but it sounds... risky too!! smile.gif

The reflective layers on the back that look like a mirror are all that you "should" have to take off. And usually they can be peeled off pretty easy. they come off in 2 layers and sometimes dry but sometimes they take a 2 hour water soak each layer.
