Sorry if this has been addressed before. I've been poring over various PLOGs and build instructions and I have a few questions about mounting the LCD.
I've stripped the LCD. All that's left is what looks like maybe a 1/8" thick piece of glass, with the edge connectors along 2 sides.
How do people typically mount these? Diagrams and pictures a plus. All the builds I've seen either don't have the LCD in when the pic is taken, or the pics are taken after it's mounted and I can't see the details.
How do you protect the edge connectors?
In my mind I was picturing making something like a typical picture frame, with a recess in the back where the "glass" fits in. Then use some tabs along the back, screwed into the frame, to hold the "glass" in. But 2 sides of the LCD have the edge connectors and I'm deathly afraid of bending them or screwing them up.
The main thought I have now is this... take the backlight, remove the innards, and cut out all the stuff that would get in the way of the path of the light. Snap it back together and now I have a fairly sturdy plastic and metal frame, and the side connectors at least will be protected.
Guidance greatly appreciated...
